"Francisco Lopez Gomez" was the unverified name of a migrant found in Brooks County, Texas on September 30, 2021.
His NamUs file was removed in December 2022 and has not been reinstated, indicating he was identified.
Case[]
The victim was discovered naked and hanging from a tree in Cage Ranch, about 80 miles from the border between the United States and Mexico. Folded clothing was found next to him, as well as two Mexican identification cards with the name "Francisco Lopez Gomez." Investigators believe that he had been there for at least a week.
The Brooks County Sheriff's Office stated that the investigation is being treated as a homicide, although they admitted there are too many variables to conclude what really happened. The BCSO were also shocked by the case itself. As of the victim's discovery, this is the only migrant death in 2021 for which the BCSO suspects foul play.
