Eric P. Cupo was a young man murdered in California in 1998. He was also known by the nickname of "Huck".

Three individuals have been convicted of Eric's murder. He was identified in April 2023 by Othram. Cupo lived a transient lifestyle and lived in various locations throughout the United States.

Background[]

Cupo was born in California and was adopted by a family in Philadelphia. As an adult, he moved around the country and his family had little contact with him. He is believed to have been homeless at the time of his death and may have had a drug problem.

Case[]

Cupo's remains were located on a remote mountain area in Boulder Creek, California, on December 27, 1998. He had suffered violent head injuries and had received at least two stab wounds to his throat.

In January 1999, a truck driver was arrested for the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 19-year-old man named Jeremy Michael Towner.[1] The truck driver claimed that he held Towner against his will because of Cupo's murder.

In September 2001, Towner was sentenced to life in prison, along with his friends James Dotson and Kimberly Labore, for his role in the Cupo's death. They claimed they were friends with Cupo and a woman named Anna, who was apparently Cupo's girlfriend. They took the two back to a cabin owned by Labore and the three beat and stabbed Eric to death, allegedly because he had a gun they wanted.

Anna, Eric's supposed girlfriend, has never been located. Anna reportedly owned a Toyota auto with white tag plates.
