Evelyn Lois Horne Townsend (May 9, 1939 - August 1982) was a woman whose remains were found in a canal in 1982. She had been shot four times.

She was identified with assistance from Parabon NanoLabs in February 2024. Her identification was announced on March 12, 2024.

Background[]

Evelyn lived in Perry, Florida but was described by her daughter as a "drifter" who often moved around the state. She was also described as having connections to drugs and always having money despite not working.

Her brother reported that years earlier he had been informed her body was found in Tampa Bay, but the family was advised not to pursue the matter of her death.

Police are investigating suspects in her homicide. However, these persons are also deceased.
