Unidentified Wiki

Elizabeth Sue Angotti (née: Grabow) was a teenager whose body was found under the remains of a collapsed shed in Sycamore, Illinois, in 1976. She was identified in 1989.

Case[]

On September 20, 1976, two children playing on an abandoned farm discovered the body of a young woman under the rubble of a collapsed shed in Sycamore, Illinois. She had been shot three times, twice in the abdomen and once in the head.

Identification[]

Her identification was announced in June 1989 when, the month prior, her story was reprinted in the newspaper, along with a photograph of the facial reconstruction, after years of having no new leads in the case. A couple claiming to be the woman's brother and sister-in-law came forward after seeing the reconstruction. After comparing the teeth from the woman's skull and a photograph of the missing woman, as well as the clothing found at the scene, she was identified as Elizabeth Grabow.

Grabow had disappeared in July 1976 and was reportedly in the company of Ralph Dyson Jr., whom her brother believed left with Grabow to Memphis, Tennessee. After returning to Aurora, Dyson stated to Grabow's family that he and Grabow had gotten into an argument in Tennessee and ran away from him, where Dyson refused to discuss Grabow's disappearance with her family from that point forward. Dyson was a suspect in Grabow's murder, as well as the murder of Rose Whitney in January 1976. Dyson died on June 27, 1988, of a cocaine overdose, one year before her identification.
