Diann Lynn Tatumn, nicknamed "Patty" before her identification, was a woman whose remains were discovered in Cottrellville Township, Michigan, on August 6, 1994.
She was identified through DNA in 2013. Her murder remains unsolved.
Case[]
Diann was last seen alive on October 21, 1988, when she left her home in Jeffersonville, Ohio, to go to her mother's home in Warren, Michigan. Her husband reported her missing when he found out she never made it.
Soon after her disappearance, Diann's car was found in the parking lot of a Cincinnati, Ohio, motel. Diann was not known to have stayed at the motel.
On August 6, 1994, two teenagers discovered Diann's remains when searching an abandoned farmhouse in Cottrellville Township, Michigan. The farmhouse had been abandoned for about ten years. A fridge had been knocked over her remains, which is believed to have been the result of the roof caving in.
A reconstruction of Diann was created in November 1994, but no substantial leads were generated. The locals of Cottrellville Township began to refer to Diann as "Patty" as they felt it was better than leaving her unnamed.
By March 2013, Diann's family had uploaded their DNA to CODIS in hopes of finding her, and police had uploaded DNA from Diann's remains. The system flagged a match, leading to Diann's positive identification. Dental checks in April further confirmed Diann's identity. Diann's murder remains unsolved.
