Deanna D. Howland was a woman whose torso was found in 2004. DNA confirmed her identity in 2016. The rest of her body has yet to be found.

In January 2023, it was announced that foreign DNA obtained from her remains and a knife at the crime scene led to an arrest and eventually, a confession.

Case[]

Howland's body was found dismembered at a truck stop in 2004. She was a mother of 4 who lived a transient lifestyle and had battled drug addiction. Her brother had reached out to authorities in 2006 to tell them he believed the remains were hers, but was told it wasn't a match. He himself was arrested for multiple crimes in 2015, and discussed the situation during his trial. This led investigators to re-test the remains and found they were in fact Howland's.

DNA from the crime scene showed her killer to be a man named Mike Clardy. He confessed he had murdered her in his home because they had an argument after he paid her for sex.
