Unidentified Wiki

David Allen Johnson was a man who was struck by a vehicle in Stockton, California on September 24, 1993. He survived the crash but later succumbed to his injuries mid-October 1996. He was identified on October 31, 1996.

Case[]

David Johnson, a drifter, was walking along Waterloo Road in East Stockton when he was hit by a motorcycle that was trying to avoid an out-of-control car. He sustained a serious head injury, with bleeding and bruising on the brain, and both of his legs were broken. He was sent to Sutter General Hospital in Sacramento, California, where he was in a coma. He had no property, money, or identification on him. As a result, he could not be immediately identified.

As time went on, the victim's condition only improved slightly. He sometimes responded to his caretakers by fluttering his eyes and squeezing his hand. However, the doctors and nurses treating him believed his reunification with his friends and relatives was required for a better recovery.

On May 4, 1994, the 29th episode of season six of "Unsolved Mysteries" aired this case, where the victim was referred to as East Stockton John Doe. The episode showed his tattoos: a lightning bolt and the letters P, B, and I on his left arm. David's sisters saw the episode and reported to the California Highway Patrol that they believed that the East Stockton John Doe was their brother. However, this tip was not forwarded to the hospital officials until after his death for unknown reasons.

Unfortunately, the East Stockton John Doe died of his injuries in mid-October 1996. Two weeks later, on October 31, 1996, fingerprint records identified him as David Allen Johnson.
