"Danny Peter" was the possible name of a man whose skeletal remains were found behind a church in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2002.

He is currently undergoing testing by Othram.

Case[]

At the time of his discovery behind the Victory Fellowship Church, located at 1307 Lebanon Pike in Nashville, Tennessee, police believed the victim was experiencing homelessness. He had been shot once in the chest with a shotgun.

A man named Dan Gilmore confessed to killing the decedent in 2013. He said that the victim had gone by the nickname "Big Red", that his real first name was Danny, and that he was born in Germany. Further investigation has suggested that the victim was named Danny Peter and that he was born in 1961, meaning he would have been around 41 years old at the time of his murder. However, attempts to locate Peter's relatives or any further information about his life have been unsuccessful, and this means that the body can't be positively identified due to a lack of familial DNA samples or other records to compare to.

In March 2025, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department began collaborating with Othram to raise funds for DNA testing that will enable the use of genetic genealogy to identify relatives of the man and confirm whether he is Danny Peter.
