Not to be confused with Daniel Gonzales
Daniel "Danny" Gonzales was a man whose partial skeletal remains were found on Padre Island National Seashore near Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was identified sometime around 2000 using DNA.
Case[]
Gonzales and his friends Larry Cardenas and Modesto Robles Jr. were last seen departing from Matagorda Bay on a deep-sea fishing trip trip in a boat that Robles Jr. owned. When the trio did not return to port as expected three days later, the US Coast Guard began a search for them on September 11, 2000. The search was called off on September 15 after rescuers had covered an area of 35,000 square miles and were only able to find two coolers and a shoe. Robles Jr. remains a missing person and the boat was never recovered.
When initially discovered, Cardenas and Gonzales' remains were assumed to belong to the same man. Their combined case was mistakenly added to NamUs in September 2022 and taken down in May 2023.
