Curtis Taylor Jr. was a man whose remains were found in Birmingham, Alabama from August 2024 to August 2025.

He was identified in December 2025.

Case[]

Curtis Taylor Jr., a 24-year-old visually impaired man, was last seen at his home in Center Point on February 6, 2024, when he reportedly told his mother he was leaving to visit his father who lived nearby. He was reported missing after family had not heard from him in two weeks.

In August 2024, a dog picked up a skull containing a gunshot wound and carried it to the side of the road outside its owner's home. In December, the same dog brought home a tibia, which was determined in March 2025 to belong to the same individual. A GPS tracker was placed on the dog to track its roaming patterns, but this did not lead to any more discoveries at the time.

After a pair of femurs and a mandible were found by the dog in April and August, law enforcement searched the area with tracking dogs and discovered the site of the remains. In September, these remains were confirmed to belong to the same person, an adult black male. The site was located in a wooded area behind a home that the Taylor family had moved out of shortly after his disappearance.

On December 4, 2025, the remains were identified as as those of Curtis Taylor Jr. through dental and DNA comparison. His death is being investigated as a homicide.
