Connie Lorraine Christensen was a young woman who was discovered in Wayne County, Indiana, in 1982. She was located about 15 miles west of the Indiana and Ohio border and two miles north of Interstate 70 in a wooded area.
She was publicly identified by the DNA Doe Project in November 2023.
Case[]
Christensen's skeletal remains were found by deer hunters in a wooded area near Jacksonburg, Indiana, in 1982. Authorities were able to determine that she was a young adult caucasian female but could not identify her. She had been killed by gunshot in a probable homicide, although these details were not publicly released until 2023.
Genetic genealogy conducted by the DNA Doe Project in 2023 found matches to two close relatives and subsequently identified her as Connie Christensen, a native of Oregon, Wisconsin.
Her family last saw her on March 11, 1982, when she left her one-year-old daughter with a family member in Wisconsin and went interstate. She was reportedly said to be pregnant at the time she initially lost contact with her family.
In April 1982, she spent some time in Nashville, Tennessee, where she may have been in trouble with police for theft. This was the last known location she was seen alive.
Police reported that her suspected killer, who has yet to be publicly named, died in September 2023. However, no further details regarding the circumstances of her murder have been released. Following her identification, her remains were returned to her family; she was subsequently cremated and interred near the resting places of relatives.
