Columbia County Jane Doe was a woman found murdered in rural western Caledonia, Columbia County, Wisconsin, in 1982. She died of blunt force trauma to the head.
She is currently undergoing testing by the DNA Doe Project.
Case[]
A passerby discovered the victim's remains about 60 feet off Petra Road, near Highway 78, not far from I-90/94. A forensic anthropology review ruled her death as a homicide by blunt force trauma to the head. It is possible she was dumped at the location, and neither the woman nor her killer were from the area. No missing persons reports in southern Wisconsin matched the victim's description. She was later buried in the village of Wyocena on September 1, 1987.
On April 21, 2014, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and FBI reopened the case. Her body was exhumed, and DNA was successfully obtained.
