Clark County John Doe, alternatively known as the Hemenway Harbor Doe, was a man whose skeletal remains were found in a barrel on the coast of Lake Mead after a drought uncovered it.
He is currently undergoing DNA testing.
Case[]
On May 1, 2022, a married couple called the police after approaching a woman who screamed in terror after discovering a corpse inside a barrel at Hemenway Harbor off of Lake Mead.
Investigators concluded the victim was a male, and the cause of death was from a gunshot. They believe the victim was murdered some time in the mid-to-late 1970s or early 1980s. The barrel would've likely sunk dozens of feet underwater due to the fact the Lake Mead once had more water in it prior to its severe drought.
The decedent is widely believed to be the victim of the Mafia due to the fact that crime families had large stakes in Las Vegas' casinos at the time the victim is believed to have died.
Another barrel was found nearby, although no remains were found in it.
Six days after the discovery, the remains of Thomas Erndt were found in Callville Bay by two paddleboarders, with two other sets of remains being found months later, including those of Donald Smith. Authorities speculate that there is likely more remains in the lake.
He is currently undergoing DNA testing and is believed to possibly be Robert "Bobbi" Eugene Shaw, who disappeared in 1977.
Characteristics[]
- Was found wearing 1970s-era clothes that were available at Kmart during the time.
