Charlotte Mae Petreikis (born January 31, 1940) was a woman who collapsed at a local bus station in Pima County, Arizona. She was taken to hospital, where she gave the false name "Dorothy Railla Peterson" and stated that she lived in Casa Grande, Arizona. She subsequently fell into a coma and died three weeks later of ischemic colitis, without regaining consciousness.

Petreikis had several forms of identification and cards featuring eight different names, all of which were shown to be false.

In December 2024 she was officially identified as Charlotte Mae Petreikis from Chicago, via genetic genealogy conducted by Intermountain Forensics.

Background[]

Petreikis lost contact with her family in the late 1980s, when she stole her brother's car and disappeared. The car was later found parked at the airport in Chicago, with no sign of Petreikis.

The false name she gave at the hospital turned out to be that of her mother Dorothy Railla, with the addition of Peterson, which is the English translation of the Lithuanian surname Petreikis. The false date of birth she gave at the hospital was also that of her mother.
