Charles Benjamin Rhoades (born July 9, 1940) was a man whose remains were found in the Mississippi River near Barfield, Arkansas, on June 23, 1990.

He was identified by Othram in October 2025.

Case[]

Rhoades' remains were found by a fisherman on the west bank of the Mississippi River, three miles north of Barfield Landing.

The decomposed state of his remains made identification impossible. However, investigators determined he most likely died as a result of a skull fracture, possibly caused by falling off a boat, coming into contact with a marine propeller, or an intentional blow to the head. It was suspected that he may have been one of two men who had fallen overboard from a barge.

In 2024, the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office reopened the case and provided a sample of the remains to Othram for DNA extraction and genetic genealogical research. This effort identified a potential living daughter of Rhoades, who confirmed that he had been missing since 1990. She agreed to undergo a DNA test to verify his identity.
