Patricia Candace "Candy" Walsh (December 18, 1966 - January 19, 1990) was a young woman who was murdered by serial killer Robert Ben Rhodes in 1990.
Case[]
Candy, along with her husband, Douglas Zyskowski, left Seattle, Washington in November of 1989 to hitchhike to a religious convention in Georgia. On the way, the pair accepted a ride from Rhodes near El Paso, Texas. Rhodes killed Douglas right away, leaving his body in Sutton County, Texas. Rhodes then held Candy captive in his truck for over a week, raping and torturing her before killing her and leaving her body in Millard County, Utah.
Candy's remains were found by deer hunters in an isolated area near Interstate 15 on October 26, 1990. She had been shot four times in the head and neck by a .22 caliber rifle. It was determined that she had been killed at the scene before being posed in a cross like manner with her braided hair draped over her shoulder.
Candy was identified in 2003 by dental records and DNA testing. Her body was sent back to King County, Washington to be buried, along with her husband. Rhodes confessed to the pair's murders and was charged with killing then, as well as Regina Walters and Ricky Jones, who he killed in a similar manner.
