Brittany Jade Stalman (Born October 8, 1989) was a teenager who was last seen outside of her home on Crawford Drive.
Characteristics
Brittany was described as having a thin/slender build, brown eyes, and long, brown hair. She had dental braces that were taken off not too long before her disappearance and she has a permanent retainer inside her lower teeth. Brittany has been diagnosed with depression.
Clothing and accessories
When she disappeared, she was wearing a black, zip-up "bomber style" hooded jacket; light gray, baggy sweatpants; and white, leather, Puma running shoes with the Puma emblem on the side in blue. It's possible Brittany's jacket might've had a fur lining. Other than a pink portable CD player, she didn't bring any personal belongings with her, such as her purse or wallet.
Case
The last time Brittany's parents saw her was when she left the family residence at 1:00 P.M., after having an argument with her boyfriend on the phone. Before leaving, she briefly spoke with her father. She went out to go for a walk to clear her head and her parents expected her to return later that day. The last time she was seen was near Westview Drive and 64th Avenue, where she was near a park. It is unknown who saw her there. Brittany's parents called the police in the evening. She had a history of leaving home for short periods of time but always returned when whatever she was upset about no longer bothered her.
In June 2008, an unknown man approached several volunteers at a Protect Our Children information campaign. He hinted he might've known something about Brittany's disappearance, but left before saying anything.
Mike Stalman, Brittany's father, acknowledged that she was depressed, but doesn't believe Brittany committed suicide, despite rumors.
