Bogotá John Doe, alternatively referred to as Body 11, was a male whose tortured remains were discovered wrapped in garbage bags by a resident in the central area of Bogotá, Colombia. The decedent is one of 13 murdered men whose bodies were found wrapped in bags and tortured around Bogotá between March and May of 2022. Their deaths are suspected to be linked with drug trafficking disputes and increasing crime in the city.

Case[]

On the 26th of April, 2022, a resident of the central area of Bogotá discovered a discarded garbage bag resembling a body and reported it to authorities. The decedent had been bound, stabbed several times, and sustained a gunshot wound to the head. No further details could be ascertained about the victim, though his murder was quickly linked to the murders of 10 other men in the area at the time. The number of victims would rise to 13 by May of that year.

The murders began on the 27th of March, 2022, with the most recent body linked to the case being found on the 15th of May. Initially, it was thought the deaths were linked to "pique houses" or "massage houses", which were fake hotels in abandoned buildings where the victims would be tortured and then dumped on the streets of Bogotá. Bogotá Police have since ruled out these claims and suspect that the murders of the men are linked to drug trafficking disputes in the city and a rise in crime. It is unknown if the murders were all carried out by the same trafficking group, though the mayor of Bogotá has stated that several people have been identified and arrested for the murders. At least five of the victims have conclusively been linked to drug trafficking, though all of the victims have yet to be identified.

As of July 2022, it has been reported more tortured bodies inside of bags have been found in different sections of Bogotá, though these have not been connected to the 13 bodies found between March and May.
