Bogotá John Doe, alternatively referred to as Body 6, was a young man whose charred remains were discovered in the San Cristóbal sector of Bogotá, Columbia. According to witnesses, he had been forcibly taken to the area, doused with gasoline, and incinerated. His case has been linked to the cases of 13 other men who were found murdered in Bogotá between March and May of 2022. It is suspected that their cases are linked to drug trafficking disputes or the increase in crime in the city.
Case[]
On the 15th of April, 2022, during the Good Friday holiday, a man's burned corpse was discovered in a wooded area of the San Cristóbal sector in Bogotá. Witnesses were interviewed and detailed that the decedent had been forcibly taken to the area, covered in gasoline, and burned by his killers. No further details could be ascertained about the decedent, though his case was suspected to have been a case of retaliation by a rival drug trafficking group. His case was quickly linked to the cases of several other men in the city who were found murdered despite the modus operandi differing from theirs.
The murders began on the 27th of March, 2022, with the most recent body linked to the case being found on the 15th of May. Initially, it was thought the deaths were linked to "pique houses" or "massage houses", which were fake hotels in abandoned buildings where the victims would be tortured and then dumped on the streets of Bogotá. Bogotá Police have since ruled out these claims and suspect that the murders of the men are linked to drug trafficking disputes in the city and a rise in crime. It is unknown if the murders were all carried out by the same trafficking group, though the mayor of Bogotá has stated that several people have been identified and arrested for the murders. At least five of the victims have conclusively been linked to drug trafficking, though all of the victims have yet to be identified.
As of July 2022, it has been reported more tortured bodies inside bags have been found in different sections of Bogotá, though these have not been connected to the 13 bodies found between March and May.
