Body 28 was one of five victims of John Wayne Gacy who remains unidentified. His remains were the second to last recovered from Gacy's property.
Case[]
Investigators discovered the decedent wrapped in plastic garbage bags and dry-cleaner bags 15 feet from the barbecue pit in the backyard of serial killer John Wayne Gacy's home in Norwood Park, Illinois, on March 9, 1979. Authorities believe he is Gacy's second victim based on the location of his body. The estimated time of death is between 1972 and 1978, with investigators narrowing it to between January 3, 1972, and July 31, 1975, based on Gacy's statements and physical evidence. He reportedly was sexually assaulted and tortured after entering Gacy's home. Gacy claimed that he then strangled the victim and stored his body in his closet but later buried him in the backyard after fluids leaked onto the carpet.
It is unknown how or where Gacy met the decedent. Investigators theorized that the decedent was possibly married, based on the ring found on the fourth finger of his left hand. 16 boys and men have been ruled out as potential matches for Body 28. According to the Doe Network, his fingerprints are unavailable for identification purposes. However, his dentals and DNA are available.
The four other unidentified victims of Gacy are Body 10, Body 13, Body 21 and Body 26.
