Rebecca Ann "Becky" Redeker (1973 - c. June 13, 1993) was a young woman found deceased at a campsite in 1993. While she remained unidentified, she was known by the nickname "Rainbow Falls Jane Doe".
She was identified in August 2020.
Case[]
Becky disappeared under unknown circumstances sometime between 1992 and 1993. It is known that she was homeless at the time of her disappearance and spent most of her life around Colorado Springs.
Her body was discovered inside a makeshift tent at the Rainbow Falls campsite in Douglas County, Colorado. Her cause of death is currently undetermined. However, it is believed she died from blunt force trauma to her head.
She was speculated to be an unidentified teenager arrested along with two other males in 1992. However, this is impossible, with Becky later being identified as the victim.
Identification[]
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office contracted with United Data Connect to sequence DNA from the decedent and use genetic genealogy to assist in the investigation. By March 2020, the sequencing was completed. Following the analysis of DNA matches through GEDmatch, over 61 family trees were built, ultimately leading to the identification of her birth father on May 14.
Police are currently investigating her case as a homicide. Anyone who knew Becky from school or during her time of being homeless is encouraged to contact the police.
