"Baby in the Post" was the nickname given to a baby whose body was discovered at a post office in Darwin, Northern Territory, in 1965.
Case[]
On 3 May 1965, a parcel was sent from Melbourne, Victoria, to the Old Knuckey Street post office in the Northern Territory addressed to a "J Anderson". The sender was a "JF Barnes", who had a return address of 2 Woolridge Avenue in Mentone, Victoria, which was a fake address. "J Anderson" and "JF Barnes" have never been identified.
The package was opened on 11 May 1965 after postal workers noticed a smell. They discovered the body of a decomposing infant who still had his umbilical cord attached and a stocking wrapped around his neck.
