Anthony Angelli Rea (born 1973), also known as Anthony Angelli, was a teenager whose skeletal remains were found in Newburyport, Massachusetts, in 1992.
He was identified by Othram in July 2025.
Background[]
Anthony spent part of his childhood living with his mother in Malden, Massachusetts. He later attended the Harbor School in Newbury, a residential facility for students with special needs. He was reported missing from the Harbor School in August 1988.
Case[]
Rea was located in a wooded area off of Interstate 95, which runs across the entire East Coast of the United States. It appeared as if the remains had been at the location for several years.
Rea was suffering from a very painful impacted molar at the time of his death. Despite this, there was no evidence that he had ever received any sort of dental treatment. Before his identification, investigators believed he was likely a runaway and that he may have come from a very far-away place, including Canada. In reality, the distance between where Rea disappeared from and where he was later found was less than five miles.
