Andre “Angel” Melendez was a Colombian-born man who was murdered in 1996. He was a member of the “Club Kid” culture in the New York City area. His mutilated remains were discovered on a beach in Staten Island, New York in March or April 1996; he was not identified until early November of the same year. Two men were eventually convicted on charges relating to his death.
