Amarion Deontis Hope was a teenager who was killed in a police shooting in Avondale, Arizona, in February 2023.

Case
Hope lived in Chicago and was reported missing out of Indianapolis, Indiana, on February 16, 2023, while visiting an older brother.
Hope, who was unarmed, was shot by police after being identified as a suspect in a retail theft incident. After dying from his injuries, investigators were unsure of who the teen was, prompting them to enter his case into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System and NCMEC databases, with the latter providing a facial approximation.
In February 2024, it was announced that the officer involved in the shooting, referred to in news reports only by his last name, Cardenas-Duarte, would not be prosecuted. Hope’s mother is still actively seeking restitution for her son's death.
