Alejandro Narciso Lago was a man found in Punta Gorda, Florida on January 6, 2002. Foul play is suspected in his case.
He was identified in July 2024.
Case[]
The victim was discovered by county employees near a landfill off Zemel Road in Punta Gorda. Early in the investigation, authorities considered Daniel Conahan Jr. as a suspect in the case.
Between 1993 and 1996, six transient men were tied to trees, tortured, and killed in what are known as the "Hog Trail Killings." On August 17, 1999, Conahan was convicted of killing one of the victims, Richard Allen Montgomery, and was sentenced to death. Conahan is generally believed to have committed the other five but has not been put on trial. Since his conviction, more skeletons, including the "Fort Myers 8", have been discovered, and Conahan has been suspected of those killings as well.
The postmortem interval reported suggests the victim died months prior to his discovery. Because Conahan was arrested on July 3, 1996, for the attempted murder of Stanley Burden and charged with Montgomery's murder in February 1997, he could not have killed this victim as he would have already been incarcerated.
