Akita John Doe was a man who was found floating in the Sea of Japan near the Oga Peninsula in Akita Prefecture, Japan. He is believed to have been accompanied by Itoigawa John Doe, who was found a day before him, as their life jackets bore identical colors and potential boat names. Due to photos of North Korean leaders being found on the body, the decedent is presumed to be either a defector or a fisherman that was swept away.
