Ada Elizabeth Fritz was a woman found murdered in Alabama in 1976. A suspect in her death was identified; however, her identity could not be established at the time.
She was identified by Moxxy Forensic Investigations in 2023.
Background[]
Fritz was born in Sheridan, Wyoming in September 1914 and later lived in Oregon. At the time of her death, Fritz was last known to be in the Batesville, Arkansas area. Investigators believe Fritz was visiting Mississippi on a fishing trip.
Case[]
Fritz's body was discovered by two teenagers in Sessions Creek near Potter Tract Road in Grand Bay, Alabama. Fritz had died of a gunshot wound to the back of the head and her hands had been severed post-mortem. When no one came forward to identify her, Fritz's body was donated to science and eventually cremated.
Henderson James Williams is considered the prime suspect in Fritz's murder. Williams was convicted in the 1994 murder of his elderly mother, Erma Williams, whose body was recovered in the same area as Fritz and had also been disposed of in a similar manner. Williams never admitted his involvement in Fritz's murder and died in prison.
Identification[]
Despite Fritz's remains being cremated, Moxxy Forensic Investigations submitted a dental mold taken at autopsy to Intermountain Forensics for DNA extraction. A DNA sample was obtained and utilized by Moxxy Forensic Investigations for genealogical analysis. Moxxy Forensic Investigations was able to locate a potential nephew for Fritz, her only surviving relative, who confirmed the identity of his missing aunt.
